Catch The Pigeon…. Well Nearly!

An email arrived at the weekend with a photograph attached and a few lines of explanation. It came from a reader who had spotted a familiar vehicle and thought it worth sharing. The lorry in question is a blue example that has appeared in these pages before, and the sighting was a welcome one.

Still Earning Her Keep

The vehicle is thought to be around 21 years old, yet she appears to be keeping busy. According to the correspondent, the current owner works for Border Amalgamation in Manchester. Border Amalgamation organise pigeon races, which goes some way to explaining the connection between the lorry and the pigeon world.

It is not clear exactly when the photograph was taken, though the lorry looks to be in fine order. The hope now is that the owner might see this and get in touch. Attempts to make contact through social media have so far come to nothing, largely because the name in question is shared by rather a lot of people.

An Open Invitation

If the owner of this blue lorry happens to read this, an email would be very welcome. It would be good to catch up with the vehicle at some point this year and find out where she has been and what she has been up to. There is no particular reason for the interest beyond the usual affection for a machine that has clearly served someone well for two decades and more.
