Greece has plenty to recommend it: the food, the weather, the beer, and a transport heritage that rewards anyone who keeps a camera within reach. There is always something old to find.

A Regular Run to Athens

Each year brings the same job: taking two dogs down to Athens, from where they continue to their owner’s home on Mykonos. Being a transport historian and enthusiast — a term I prefer to the alternatives — means the camera is always packed. You never know what you will come across, but something elderly and interesting usually turns up.

The Little Big Cab Club

For this piece I have stuck to the small-cab machines. My first lorry was a Mercedes 814, followed by a rapid 817, so the sight of either brings back good memories. A great many filling stations seem to keep one on site, even in the larger towns, which suggests they are used for bulk deliveries to local customers. Confirming that is a job for another day.
