Re-Post: Centurion List – The Final 4

Four Scania Centurions remain unidentified in an ongoing effort to catalogue all 100 of the special-edition trucks. Each of the four is a confirmed Centurion, yet no one has produced solid evidence of the build number allocated to any of them.

The Four Unidentified Trucks

J727 TRO – 113M 360

Photographed in Cambrian Pet Food livery, though the truck looks a little tired in that shot.

J606 UOE – 113M 360

Well documented and originally a demonstrator, but its later history is unclear. One possibility is that it was repainted and joined the SEAS fleet after that operator parted company with its own Centurion. Even Chris Kelly at Keltruck, who drove J606 UOE to eastern Europe on an aid mission, has been unable to find evidence of its Centurion number.

J5 LOS – 143M 500

A fine-looking 143 with a well-documented history. Original photographs exist from the previous owner, taken both before and after sign writing, but no build number has ever come to light.

J949 EDS – 113M 400

This truck has passed through several owners, including Thomas Douglas Haulage of Glasgow. Its Centurion number remains unknown.

The Missing Numbers

Four numbers on the Centurion list have no truck or registration allocated to them: #037, #043, #054 and #068.

The other 96 entries are each supported by at least two or three separate facts about the vehicle concerned, so there is a reasonable chance the list is accurate. That the four remaining trucks should match the four remaining numbers so neatly may be coincidence — or it may mean the catalogue is very nearly complete.

Anyone who can shed light on these four trucks, or who has seen a Scania certificate in a transport office that matches one of the missing numbers, is asked to get in touch.
