A steam wagon is still a truck, and this one is a fine example of the breed. A photograph of a Foden steam wagon, finished in a striking shade, was captured at a steam fair by a contact in the trade who attends such events across the south-west of England and beyond with his own miniature traction engines.
The wagon carries a name that happens to match a surname, along with two initials that belong to the photographer’s father. A quick check confirmed that no secret collection of steam vehicles is waiting to be inherited.
Steam fairs remain a strong draw in the south-west and further afield, with preserved engines and scale models alike turning out for display.
